What is Widgi Toolbar?
Widgi Toolbar is a set of toolbars built on platform, provided by spigot inc. The toolbars are known to be installed together with other software, most often freeware or shareware. Typically, PC owner is not careful enough and leave some checkboxes unchecked.
That is how one of such Widgi toolbars land on their browser. There are multiple toolbars in circulation, namely MyBrowserBar, Dealio, YouTubeDownloader and others.
On itself, Widgi Toolbars are not very dangerous. They might display advertisements, or change your browsers default search provider to the one that pays the most. Despite that these toolbars might be undesirable. Firstly, they might collect some data about your browsing habits. Secondly, they display advertisements.
Thirdly, changing search provider is rarely desirable. Thus this makes Widgi Toolbar potentially unwanted application (PUP). In my opinion, you should remove Widgi Toolbar if you, or someone from your family or company installed it accidently. Additionally you should be cautious about programs that distribute such toolbars.
Widgi Toolbars can be removed in several ways. Firstly, they can be removed from control panel if you know which toolbar to remove. Additionally, they are listed under browser extensions and can be disabled from there. In some cases, it is advisable to use anti-malware programs like Spyhunter or Spybot S&D to scan your system for Widgi Toolbar or “shareware” that installs such programs without your consent. Some sources recommend cleaning registry entries manually too.
