What is Hal.dll?

HAL is the acronym for Hardware Abstraction Layer. Hal.dll controls the access of the core drivers for hardware in the computer system. Using this dll file, your computer can access various hardware available in the computer.

Hal.dll is a DLL file that conceals hardware complexities from different applications of the Windows. Hal.dll also syncs external drivers with the computer. If you were using a soundcard driver or a printer driver, you will need Hal.dll to have your computer control them.

Hal.dll controls the communication of the Windows NT, 2000, and XP operating systems with the computer hardware. Hal.dll is one of the important elements that have helped NT-based operating systems become more secure and reliable.

Hal.dll is important because it can prevent direct access of the resources of your computer by applications. These resources include the memory, hardware devices and the CPU. Controlling the access by Hal.dll ensures avoidance of crashes and conflicts.
